The 1st Global Geographical Indications Products Expo held in Luzhou

On July 29-31, 2022,the 1st Global Geographical Indications Products Expo(hereinafter referred to as ‘the Expo’ ) was held in Luzhou, Sichuan Province, China.

 

On the morning of July 29, the Expo, sponsored by the People’s Government of Luzhou City, jointly supported by the Trade Development Bureau of MOFCOM, the Delegation of the European Union to China and the Department of Commerce of Sichuan Province opened in Luzhou. The former French Prime Minister H.E. Jean-Pierre Raffarin sent a congratulatory letter to the Expo. H.E.Nicolas Chapuis, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to China, H.E.Vladimír Tomšík, Czech Ambassador to China, delivered speeches via video.

 

Mr.Yang Hongbo, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress, Ambassador Huo Yuzhen, Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for China-CEEC Cooperation, H.E.Laurent Bili, French ambassador to China, H.E.Dušan Bella, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to China, H.E.Rafael Dezcallar, Ambassador of Spain to China, Mr.Yang Linxing, Secretary of the CPC Luzhou Municipal Committee of Sichuan Province, and Mr.Wu Zhengping, Director-General of the Trade Development Bureau of MOFCOM attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Mr.Yu Xianhe, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Luzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Luzhou.

 

On the afternoon of July 29, Mr.Wu Zhengping, Director-General of the Trade Development Bureau of MOFCOM was invited to attend the Trade Forum for China-EU Geographical Indications Products and delivered a speech.

 

With the theme of “strengthen the protection of geographical indications and promote high-quality industrial development”, the Expo aimed to advance trading of geographical indications products, technical exchange, information sharing, cultural integration and investment promotion. The three-day Expo which covered an area of 20,000 square meters mainly displayed China-EU geographical indications products, including six exhibition areas for tea, wine, food, fruit, arts & crafts and other geographical indications products.

 

The Expo is the first geographical indications products expo ever hosted in western China.
