The Third China International Consumer Products Expo Opened in Haikou, Hainan

On the morning of April 10, the Third China International Consumer Products Expo (the Expo), co-hosted by the People’s Government of Hainan Province and the Ministry of Commerce, opened in Haikou City, Hainan Province. He Lifeng, Vice Premier of the State Council, delivered a video message. Wang Yong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the event and declared its opening. Giorgia Meloni, Italian Prime Minister, Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, Lao Deputy Prime Minister, Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Radovan Višković, Prime Minister of Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization attended the opening ceremony online or on site. Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Secretary of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee Feng Fei delivered welcoming speeches and Liu Xiaoming, Acting Governor of Hainan Province, presided over the opening ceremony.


Before the opening ceremony, Minister Wang Wentao and Vice Minister Sheng Qiuping accompanied Vice Chairman Wang Yong on a tour of the exhibition hall. Wu Zhengping, Director General of the Trade Development Bureau, accompanied the guests to participate in the relevant activities.


The Third China International Consumer Products Expo is scheduled to be held in Haikou, Hainan Province on April 11-15, 2023. Themed by “Share Open Opportunities, Co-create a Better Life”, the event aims to help restore and upgrade consumption and provide opportunities for enterprises from all over the world to share the Chinese market. The exhibition area of this year’s Expo is set to increase by 20% over the previous edition of the Expo, reaching 120,000 square meters, with over 3,300 boutique consumer brands from 65 countries and regions on display. Italy, the guest country of honor at this year’s Expo, will be represented by 147 brands, covering an exhibition area of approximately 1,800 square meters, with both the number of brands and the exhibition area doubling those at the second edition. The current Expo is expected to receive 50,000 purchasers and professional visitors of all kinds and over 300,000 general visitors.


This year’s Expo is with the objective of “expanding influence and enabling offline internationalization”. Compared with the previous two editions, the current Expo sees an improvement in all core indicators such as the numbers of participating countries, brands and purchasers. As an important part of the “Year of Consumption Boosting”, the event focuses on new trends such as green consumption, healthy consumption, smart consumption and fashionable consumption. It showcases a series of high-quality products, holds a variety of activities, and creates a series of immersive and experiential scenarios to foster a good consumer atmosphere, boost consumer confidence, and stimulate consumption vitality.


During the Expo, a wide range of side events in different forms will be held. In addition to the closely watched launch events of new products, there will also be over 100 thematic forums, promotion fairs, matchmaking sessions, seminars and achievements releases.
