The 14th China-Northeast Asia Expo Opens in Changchun

On August 23, the 14th China-Northeast Asia Expo, also known as the Northeast Asia Expo, kicked off in Changchun, Jilin. This significant event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the People’s Government of Jilin Province.

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Hao Mingjin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, and Chimed Khurelbaatar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia. They both delivered insightful speeches, highlighting the importance of the occasion. Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, conveyed his message through a video presentation, while Yun Jong-ho, Minister of External Economic Relations of North Korea, shared his thoughts in writing. Jing Junhai, Secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, took the stage during the opening ceremony, addressing the attendees with a meaningful speech. The ceremony itself was skillfully overseen by Hu Yuting, Governor of Jilin Province. Notable figures such as Guo Tingting, Deputy Minister of Commerce, Xiao Weiming, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission, Dukgeun Ahn, Minister for Trade at the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Zhang Shenfeng, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, along with Consul General Hakumi Katue from the Japanese Consulate in Shenyang, also delivered compelling speeches, adding to the significance of the event.

Prior to the commencement of the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Commerce Guo Tingting accompanied Vice Chairman Hao Mingjin on a comprehensive tour of the exhibition halls. Director Wu Zhengping from our bureau was also actively involved in these pertinent activities.

Under the overarching theme of "Joint Development of Northeast Asia in Cooperation for the Future," this Northeast Asia Expo showcases its offerings through eight distinct exhibition pavilions: the Modern Equipment and New Energy Cooperation Pavilion, the Modern Service Industry Pavilion, the Modern Agriculture Pavilion, the Digital Life Pavilion, the Northeast Asia Commodity Pavilion, the International Commodity Pavilion, the Provincial, Regional and Municipal Cooperation Pavilion, and the Jilin Pavilion. The combined exhibition space spans a substantial 70,000 square meters.

Throughout the course of the exhibition, a diverse array of high-level forums and conferences is set to take place. This lineup includes the 12th High-level Forum on Northeast Asia Cooperation, the Third Northeast Asia Regional Cooperation Roundtable, the 2023 China-Japan Economic Cooperation Conference (held in Jilin), the 2023 Northeast Asia Business Cooperation Forum, the Fourth China-Northeast Asia Expo Legal Forum, the China-Northeast Asia Big Health Industry Development Forum, the 2023 China-Northeast Asia Modern Agriculture Development Forum, the Eighth Northeast Asia Think Tank Forum, alongside other pertinent and complementary professional supporting events.
